Our People


Jim Huber graduated from Southern Alberta Institute of Technology in Radio and Television Production. Jim founded Baseline Communications in 1988 and has been creating videos and strong client relationships in the National Capital Region ever since. Jim is hands-on throughout every aspect of each production and deals directly with clients ensuring complete satisfaction. He not only oversees the quality of each production from conception to final delivery, he is a proficient camera operator, director, producer and writer.

Jim’s winning philosophy is “inform through entertainment” and has created tens of thousands of hours of corporate and broadcast programs with well established clients such as Canadian Blood Services, the Heart Institute, Environment Canada, the Privy Council Office and numerous others.

Jim is confident he can create unique, technical, visual and demographic solutions to achieve any communication objective.


Tim is BCI’s resident writer and has delivered superior service to the private and public sector in communication planning, technical writing & editing, business analysis, project management, policy analysis, risk management & business recovery, quality assurance and multimedia production. Prior to his consulting career, he served for 20 years with the federal public service and carries a secret security clearance. Tim is a published journalist and produced screenwriter in both broadcast television and corporate video. His creative talents have supported the performances of Alanis Morissette and Leslie Nielsen, among others. A respected member of the professional community, Mr. McCarthy served as president of the Ottawa-Hull Film and Television Association (OHFTA).


Dusty Langlois is a graduate of the Television and New Media Production program at Loyalist College.

With almost 10 years of professional editing, camera, and lighting experience, he has become proficient in a variety of production techniques. He has experience working with multiple video cameras in a variety of formats, including 4K ultra-high-definition. He is familiar with professional video editing software, such as Adobe Creative Suite and Final Cut Studio. He understands the many facets of colour correction, video codecs, compression, bit rates, and closed captioning.

Dusty has worked on a variety of government contracts, corporate productions, commercials and television series. He works with clients such as Public Works and Government Services Canada, Library and Archives Canada, SOS Children's Villages and the Canadian Medical Association. His versatility and extensive knowledge of the production process make him a great asset to any project.


Matthew A. MacDonald has been a cinematographer and camera operator for more than ten years. He has worked on a wide variety of productions, including corporate videos, commercials, television series, documentaries, and feature films. His television work has appeared on The Travel Channel, TFO, and TV5 Unis. Some of his recent corporate and commercial work has been for Parks Canada, the Canada Revenue Agency, Canadian Blood Services, and Beau's All-Natural Brewing Co. In addition to being a dedicated cinematographer, he also writes and directs and has a passion for visual communications in general. Matthew is originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia, but is currently based in Ottawa, Ontario. Although his true calling is cinematography, he also has a PhD in Political Science and can be found writing and teaching about politics in his down time.


Laurie-Anne has an honours Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and has written everything from news, magazine stories, radio shows and over 30 hours of national television. She directed the popular documentary series Truth Duty Valour as well as Canada’s version of “Cops” called Courage in Red. Her work has aired on The Discovery Channel, CTV, Sportsnet, and OLN and all over Europe. Laurie-Anne has also worked as a Communications Officer for Service Canada, The Solicitor General’s Office as well as the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission and fully understands the needs of corporate videos, maintaining corporate identity and internal communication tools. Laurie-Anne completed her first project with BCI in 2000 and has been writing and directing on BCI projects ever since.


Claude Naubert is an Ottawa native actor, musician, voice talent, creative writer, translator, TV and radio host. He has also adapted and translated numerous scripts for national commercials, jingles, corporate videos and industrial shows. Some of the clients include Nissan, Honda, Canada Post, Agriculture Canada, Chicken Farmers of Canada, Hinterland's Who's Who, Tourism Ottawa, Pfizer, CIBC, HMV, Glaxo-Smith-Kline and Ciba Vision where, as a creative writer and adaptor, he has been involved in numerous product launches for industrial shows, awards ceremonies, commercials and jingles. He was a writer and performer on Radio-Canada's La Première chaîne weekly comic sketches "La farce cachée de la une".


Matt is an accomplished filmmaker/video editor with over 12 years experience. He studied film and television at Sheridan College before moving to Toronto in 2005 where he manages the Baseline Communications' Toronto facility. He oversees all commercial production. Since then he has worked with several leading ad agencies on projects for broadcast, web and everything in between. His experience in both film production and post has taught him to craft compelling images and to capture everything that's essential to tell a story.
